Exclamation Cruise Control recall question.

ive heard that ford made a new switch for the cruise control. does anyone have the part number. i would rather have a new switch then have my truck almost catch fire because of the fusable link that they give you.

I only had one recall on my truck. Same as yours, Ford did it for free and only took about 15min.

fusible link will solve the problem of the recall... No need for a different switch. Like bigdad8214 said it takes 15 minutes and its free.

If you haven't had the recall done unplug the switch immediately. Listen to this statement: When it's taken in for the recall IF the switch is wet with brake fluid you will get the new switch as well as the harness..........understand "IF the switch is wet with brake fluid"?

yes the recall is just for the harness to be added in with a fuse it in so if the switch shorts out it will blow the fuse instead of start a fire

the only time that a switch is put on is if the old one on the truck is already leaking fluid into the switch

i have done hundreds of this recall where i work and i have had to replace very few actual switches

so do they hook up the fuseable link AND put in a new switch? or do they just put in the new switch if its "leaking"?

i'm going to the dealership tmrw to make sure my truck has been taken in for the recall...i've only owned it a year, so i have no idea if it's been taken in or not...a truck blew up just yesterday morning and made the local news...was parked next to his house and caught part of his house on fire

yes the switch is a new part but i have put very few of them on the f150s but if you get a switch you will get a new little harness thing because the connectors are different but the new switch is designed so that it should not leak so the new harness doesnt not include a fuse or anything like that

1clean42 if you look under your hood at your brake master cyl like the pic a few posts up shows and if there is a wiring harness that is zip tied in there with a lil black box on it that holds a fuse then your recall should be done

if its not then take it to a dealership and have them run an OASIS report to see if the recall is still open on your truck

Just run your VIN number to check it.

That way you don't have to drive anywhere.

Go to the recalls page. type in your VIN and it'll tell you if there are ANY outstanding recalls on your truck.
