Anyone run a 255/85R16?

I'm considering running a 255/85R16 on my stock 98 4x4 with stock 16x7" rims. The tire specs out at 33.3" dia and 10.4" wide.

I'm currently running 245/75R16's and they look puney on the truck. My other option is a 265/75R16. which is 31.7" dia and 10.8" wide.

I don't want to change rims and I'm thinking the 255/85s would be better offroad than the 265/75s and would work with just a 2" leveling kit. If anyone has run this size I'd like to hear about your experience with it.

That's all I run on my trucks.
Same height as a 285-75R15 but because it is narrower it doesn't rub.

The only problems I have seen is lack of tire availabilty in that size.
If you get a blow out and need a replacement most places do not carry it.

Hey,I'm new here but, I am running 265/75/16 on my 2wd 150 and I love these tires especially since there LT's... the p rated tires are way too soft especially towing...I love these tires....

I think I'll be going with the 255/85R16's. I looked at a truck today with the 265/75R16's and they didn't really look any bigger than my measly 245/75R16's

No need for a leveling kit to run 255/85R16. Same goes for 285s at least on stock wheels.

Good to know

I think I'd need slightly wider rims than my 7" ones to safely run 285's and I'm trying to find a good compromise on the best tire for my stock 16x7" rims.
