Bed Caps

When my truck was a couple years old my dad put a big rack on it. In order for the rack to fit on the truck he had to cut the bed caps. So, when the truck became mine, since its out of its working days i took the rack off. and i have ugly cut bed caps. I've been looking all around the internet for replacements but i cant find. All i find is diamond plate or something.

Does anyone know where i can order OEM bed caps? I have a 2001 xlt with an 8ft bed

Please help!

Looks like about 55ish bucks per side for new ones....

That is TascaFordParts.com ..... Good place too keep in mind if you even need to look for O.E. parts again.

Other than that, maybe try a local salvage yard, body repair shop, or dealer...

correct term is bed rails. caps are those hideous things that make the bed an enclosed shell

what is the purpose of the bed rails/caps anyway? has anyone ever taken them off? when i was calling around to price the bed of my truck being "Line-X'd" they were telling me that i should keep them on & they would just spray right under them. what does it look like if they were taken off?

In one word, Ugly.

There are multiple holes in the body that the rails clip in to. I replaced my tailgate cap because it had been beat to sh*t and it looked very odd with it off. I had a look under the bed rails and it looked like the same set up to me.
