Jump in turn the forward back, forward back 8 (I think) times fast but without starting it you should see your lock go up and down if you have it. It is possible to have keyless entry without powerlocks. If you do have keyless entry (if the clicks down up quick) then buy the fob off ebay for $20 and repeat the first steps by moving the key back and forth and when the lock clicks press any buttons on the remote and turn the key in the off position, you can add something like 4 remotes

if you do have it, the programming procedure is in your owner's manual. i bought 2 key fobs off ebay & redid all 3 of mine. super easy. i think i did all 3 in like 1 minute....literally.

My 98 escort zx2 had keyless entry on the drivers side only but not the passenger side. Only cost me about $20 to the fob and I had keyless entry. Ford puts all kinds of things into these vehicles without telling anyoe. Also in the same escort I added a keyless power trunk just by adding the button. I also added OEM cruise to it for less than $100 and about a half hour of installation. Ford wires most of vehicles with pretty much everything just because its easier. If you don't have cruise and want to know if you can add oem cruise easily and cheaply. take off your air bag on the steering wheel and see if there is a plug not connected to anything, thats the wiring for the oem cruise.

To see if you have oem cruise, first DICONNECT YOUR BATTERY. then remove your air bag, It probably has screws in the back, then slide it out of the wy and look for a connector that isn't plugged into anything. If you want take off the air bag and take a couple pictures of the steering wheel, and I will be able to tell you.

To tell if you have keyless entry follow the first 2 steps in the following link, if the lock clicks up and down you have keyless entry, then just buy the remote.

okay, well i dont have power locks. there is a simple metal bar from my lock tab to my handle. nothing else it touching it, so the handle (or key) is the only way to lock/unlock my doors. so knowing that, it is impossible to have keyless entry without power locks. also, i just tried this and it confirms my theory. ill just have to buy an aftermarket power lock kit later. thanks

thats weird, if you have checked fuses and relays and everything is working i would try resetting the ecu just disconnect the positive battery cable for roughly 5 mins.

I bought one of the keyless entry remotes for my 98 F-150. The problem I am having is trying to get the truck into programming mode. I turn the igintion key the 8 times as mentioned above, and as sent to me for programming instructions. I get no response with locks activating. I tried 5 times since this is mentioned for other trucks around 98. Is there any other method to get to the programming mode for the keyless entry?
