What you guys think?
I would check out the under body for any damage, check under the hood, and take it for a test drive at least.
If you want take it to a shop and they can usually take a look up on a lift for a little $.
Good luck

If it's an "Off Road" and came with a factory tow-package< i would check for a 9.75 rear end and it could possibly have a 4R100W tranny, which would be a bonus if you ever plan on doing stuff to it. Check to see if you can get the VIN from it, and the Axle code. I can check to see what it has in it.
spikedaniel, I plan on getting on the ground and looking at the whole undercarriage for anything. I should ask the guy for some pictures of the motor before I even go see it.
Blown F-150, I have the vin already but not the axle code. It would be great if you could get any more info from it. The vin is 2FTRX18L3YCA76601
Does the Off Road package come with any skid plates? I know I have used the skids on my ranger a couple of times so that would save me alot of trouble.
Thanks for all the help and opinions on this guys.

before you drive it pop off the radiator cap (actually on the bottle) and check out the coolant, see how it looks, smells etc.
drive it: soft and hard and make sure the trans feels like it isnt slipping, and try the transfer case since its 4x4, make sure both hubs engage (vacuum operated)
look under body for modifications, damage, rust etc. Looks like it might have the torsion bars cranked from the pics.

Patman03SprCrw, I didnt think about the radiator.. I also didnt know these truck had the pvh setup like rangers did. Can I change the hubs out to manual hubs later if I wanted to?
It may have some rust under it judging by the new pictures I got below. It looks like the hitch and exhaust tips are rusted, and one is bent.

The tbars were definitely cranked, the valence looks messed up, and the exhaust looks bent or its rusting off. Im going to have to look this thing over like crazy.

Good looking truck. I think the car fax will help you out, but if it has issues try and find out who did the work because if it is fixed then it is fixed. It still looks like a good deal. Be sure to check the 4 wheel drive. Look at the tolerances between the doors on both sides and look at the tolerances on the head lights and hood. Everthing should be relatively symmetrical on your gaps. Good luck.

It's hard to tell from pictures, but I think it's worth taking the time to look at it in person. IMO.

Yea im going to look at it in person for sure. The valence looks like its missing a piece that goes under and between the tow hooks. The license plate could just be from bumping into a hitch on another truck but it could have been wrecked. If I get it I will probably end up redoing the exhaust so it doesnt really bother me.
Hi, I need the trans code and axle code off of the door. The VIN shows up as a 2000, F-150, 4x4, supercab, 5.4, built in Oakville Ontario.
If it's an offroad, it should have a front, center and gas tank skid plate. Also the bolts that hold the Idler arm in place will be 4 1/2" instead of 3/12" apart.
I am pretty sure that it will have the 9.75, but as Gotts says it was pretty uncommon for them to have the 4r100w.
Trans code "E" is the 100 and "U" is the 70 for these trucks.
Check it out and let us know!

its got a brake controller, so its been towing something more then just quick moving across town trip.....
smell/feel the trans fluid to see what shape its in, look for metal flakes (wipe off dipstick a couple times to get a good sample)
Its its been doing some towing, and probably was overloaded you really want to pay good attention to powertrain, and trans!
