Weird problem

KInd of hard to explain, so I'll try my best.
I was driving up the hwy at about 65-70, let off the gas to get in turning lane, and truck speed slowed really fast without touching brake. Then after some slight braking it jerked a little bit, and the rpms went up and down a couple times without me touching the gas. All of this took place in the turn lane before I came to a stop.
^^ cliff notes: Driving 65mph, attempt to slow stop, truck rpms go crazy around 40 mph.

THis is the 3rd time its done this. Each time its after driving at least 10 straight miles at high speeds then, letting off the gas to stop for a turn.
I mostly drive my truck 6 miles a day, and the speed never really exceeds 50 mph, so it doesn't happen everyday, just the days I run up the hwy. THis is a new problem, hasn't always done this. Only performance mod I've done recently is the Gotts intake. I dont think this could be the problem, but first time it happened was 2 days after mod. I don't see how they could be related though, so my question is whats my truck doing. Kinda feels like some weird downshifting problem.

I'm guessing here, but it sounds like this is a torque converter locking/unlocking issue.

I was thinking something along those lines, but always heard of the tc problem with people going up hills. I go up a pretty good hill everyday with no problem, so I didn't really think to much of the tc.
Do you think the gotts has anything to do with it?
Is the tc doing this going to cause a problem in the long run, or is something already broken?
I've read about the tc locking issue in the tuner section. Would a tuner help/fix it, or make it worse?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to try and get this solved so I don't end up breaking more stuff.

Just go the truck a couple thousand miles ago. Haven't got around to the fluid. Was going to get it flushed, along with the CC recall that needs to be done.
Think that will help? I wanted to drain/change filter myself for the expierence, but I heard that doesn't get the fluid out of the tc unless you have the earlier years, same body style, with the tc drain plug.

Get that CC recall done RIGHT NOW, or disconnect it. That one is scary.

If you have a very early 02, you might have a TC plug.

It's the cruise control recall that was a major deal a few years back. if you never got a letter about it, call your local dealer with your VIN number and just ask and see if you have it.

Were you using cruise when this happened? I agree - you HAVE to get the recall taken care of right away. I have a friend whose truck burned to the ground & took the siding off his house & part of the garage with it! Don't delay another day - get it fixed ASAP!

Speaking of which, anyone remember that story on the news last year about reports that an meteor hit a F-150 and set the truck on fire? Just happened the be at the same exact spot as the brake booster...
