How did you relocate the oil filter?

You can get these adapters with hoses, and relocate them to anyplace you want. I plan on doing that to mine in the near future.

 

This is somthing I definitely want to do.

used to work at an oil change shop and man, have i had some bad experiences.. fords always finds a way to put the filters in the best spots... not
luckily my f150 has the relocation and its in the bumper

 

Mine came that way from the factory. I think that all 97 4X4s came that way. Don't know about newer models. I'm sure there is a kit...

 

My crossmember has a metal tray in it that catches all the drips, and relocates them to one point. the earlier trucks might not have them tho

 

i changed my oil once on my truck then decided it worth the extra 15 bux to have someone do it and not deal with the mess

 

Same on my 2000. Makes it much easier since you can just let it drain into some sort of container.

 

Changed the oil on my truck once, will pay to get it done from now on. Such a major PITA.

 

I'm capable of changing my own oil, it's not difficult on mine, but I'd rather spend a bit extra to have it done. 15 minutes and I'm in and out, no crawling under it and getting dirty, no disposal to deal with. The place I use (Mobil 1 Lube Express) is competent and they are good people.

 

what type of oil do you guys all run? Any advantage in regular vs. synthetic in a 180,000 mile truck?
