New guy

Howdy All!
Picked up a 1999 F-150 2WD Ext Cab over the weekend. This will be my "toy" truck and daily driver, I look forward and gladly accept any opinions or pointers to make it a nicer / improved truck. I will post some pics when the weather clears up.
Currently drive a 1995 F-350 w/ 337K miles on it, and my wife drives an 03 Expy, so this makes the 3rd Ford in our "fleet" now.
See ya',
Craig

That will be a good move! Go thru Waco pretty often. Going down to Sugar Land from Burleson.

We are looking forward to the move. Born and raised in Dallas, but time to leave....the city just isn't what it used to be.

I am all ears on suggestions. I don't necessarily need a 400hp truck but would like a get up and go when needed, increase in mileage would be great, Don't take this as complaining, I am not one to buy a truck and then complain about the mileage. A receiver / speaker upgrade is a must, new rims, possibly a topper, CB, etc......

Looking forward to hearing and seeing what y'all have done with your trucks.

Craig

Wheels and tires are gonna be the biggest thing.

What are you looking for? Rugged offroad truck or street truck? That will make a big part of the decision.

x2... decide whether you want an offroad, or a street truck look before doing anything, so you're not changing things you've already modded later on.

If you don't have to have new stuff, craigslist is a great place to pick up wheels, bed caps, toppers, and other misc items for the truck. Got my wheels off there at a fraction of retail prices.

We have some land so even though it's 2WD I'll probably want it to be capable of road as much as possible. So that is the route that I'll probably go.

About the only time I have to have new stuff is with some electronics, tires, etc....We have purchased a few things off of Craig's list before So I will be searching it for deals.

Well lifting 2wd's is FUN.

Fabtech has a 7.5" Kit that will allow for use of 35's and is a VERY nice kit.

Performance Accessories makes the BEST Body Lift 3" and is priced nicely.

Another thing to look at is gears. They will be rather cheap 500-600 for parts and install.
(4.30's for 35's, 4.56's for 35's, 4.88's for 37's, 5.13's for 40's)

Wheel bolt pattern in 5x135.

You will need a 16 or bigger. (perferrably no bigger than 18")

A 3" lift would probably be about as high as I would want to go. When you say I will need a 16 or bigger, are you talking about rims?

yes 16" wheel or bigger to clear the break caliper.

With a 3" Body Lift and a 2" Daystar leveling kit you could possibly fit 35's but 33's wouldnt look bad either.
