The Great American Truck Survey

Would you go vegan, become a teetotaller, or give up sex to keep your
F-150 in the family? A shocking number of you say YES.

It’s officially F-150 day! The all-new 2021 Ford F-150 will be revealed tonight at 8PM (EDT). And Ford recently published the results of  The Great American Truck Survey. Ford asked 2,000 a series of questions to identify owner demographics and to learn how many owners use their trucks for work and/or to help friends. None of that’s surprising.

But Ford ALSO asked the participants what they’d sacrifice to keep their Ford truck in the family with options ranging from streaming services and cell phones to meat, coffee, booze, and sex. The results are shocking at first.

Then again, Ford Trucks are worth the sacrifice. (Especially when it’s only hypothetical.)

Here’s a list of the most interesting things we learned followed by a multi-page infographic that includes The Great American Truck Survey and The History of the Ford F-150:

  • 54% of Ford truck owners are male.
  • 27%  are 18-34, the largest age demographic.
  • 25% have named their truck. (Big Bertha for the win — we’re not kidding.)
  • 15% love their truck so much, they have a tattoo of the actual truck OR a tattoo that relates to their truck. (Now that’s some serious dedication.)
  • 94% say they use their Ford truck to help others.
  • 34% say they use their truck to help others on a weekly basis.
  • 82% say they’d give up all streaming services before giving up their truck.
  • 79% say they’d give up drinking alcohol before they’d say goodbye to their truck.
  • 71% say they’d part ways with drinking coffee
  • 47% say they’d give up their cell phone usage, and a stunning
  • 44% say they’d give up meat.
  • Startlingly, 38% say they’d rather practice celibacy before watching their Ford truck leave their driveway.
