Prizes of more than $10,000, including a Polaris Sportsman ATV, to be awarded in Idaho ‘Duck Race,’ Aug. 11.

For $5 you could win a new Ford F-150. That is, if your little yellow rubber duckie wins the 2018 Great Snake River Greenbelt Duck Race on August 11 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Donated by Broadway Ford, the 2018 Ford F-150 truck is valued at more than $60,000 and will be the grand prize of the annual rubber duck race hosted by the Idaho Falls Rotary Club. First prize is a 4×4 Polaris Sportsman Touring XP all-terrain vehicle, donated by Idaho Central Credit Union.

Other prizes in the duck race include jewelry, gift certificates, golf passes, His and Hers Apple Fitness Watches, and a $1000 fuel card for the winner of the “Kiss a Duck” contest (we’re not even going to ask what that is).

Race day events include a classic car show, Snake River Speedboat races, a motorcycle show, a ping pong ball drop, a candy bomb event, and a military flyover. For the kids, there will be a Home Depot “build it” project and Cabela’s bow & arrow shooting. Then the ducks will be dropped in the water at 4pm and the race is on! A single duck is $5, or participants can buy six ducks for $25. Proceeds from this year’s duck race will be used for Heritage Park in Idaho Falls, which broke ground in April.

A few days prior to the duck derby, volunteers will place numbered tags on the bottom of every duck that will be in the race — all 18,000 of them. Now wouldn’t that be one duck of an experience?!?
