Ford F-150 Leveling Kit Fixes One Major Issue

Less than $50 and a couple hours of labor is all it takes to make this new Ford F-150 sit the way it’s supposed to.

To us, the Ford F-150 is essentially perfect straight off the factory floor. With virtually endless combinations of trim and equipment, it’s pretty easy to spec out the truck of your dreams without having to turn a wrench. But there is just one little issue that bothers us with the Ford F-150 and pretty much every other new truck. They sport a front-to-back rake that just doesn’t look right.

Most blame this look on things like aerodynamics and fuel economy, and they’re right. But we’d gladly give up one or two mpgs for a leveled look. And we aren’t the only ones. Leveling kits are by far the most popular mod out there in the world of trucks. You can buy anything from a simple set of blocks to adjustable shocks, but they all accomplish essentially the same thing. And that’s correct one big problem with factory-fresh trucks.

For proof, just feast your eyes on Reddit user u/Pr0cl1v1ty‘s freshly leveled Ford F-150. A grand total of $43 worth of parts is all it took to make this truck sit exactly how it should. Of course, a set of black aftermarket wheels don’t hurt, either. And in this case, the poster did the job himself and saved cash on labor. He also reports that installing the spacers resulted in a couple of trade-offs.

“You’ll feel slightly higher. You need to adjust your headlights. You will feel a slightly added ‘sway’ on turns and you lose about 0.5-1 mpg.” Of course, you’ll also want to get an alignment after installing any leveling kit. But these little concessions are well worth it in our opinion!
