1966 Ford F-100 Looks Like the Perfect Project Truck

Reddit user Faboobagoblin's 1966 Ford F-100 Custom Cab project.

Reddit reader’s vintage truck will be an honest cruiser in no time.

For most of us, the dream of a project truck is irresistible. From lifted cruisers to perfectly-restored classics, there’s something out there for everyone. But our favorites are the honest classic drivers. The ones that prove that F-Series trucks from any era are still attainable for just about everybody.

Of course, if you’re buying an older truck, you’re likely prepared to put some work into it. That’s just what Reddit user Faboobagoblin is doing with their 1966 Ford F-100 Custom Cab in Wimbledon White and Signal Red. At first glance (well, they’ve only posted one picture), this 52-year-old truck has held up better than, well, most 52-year-olds. But that’s the case with many projects. This one probably needs a few weekends worth of work before hitting the road.

In the title of the post, they let us know that they just sunk $1,300 worth of parts into this classic. They’re trying to keep the truck as original as possible while only updating safety equipment. They’ve ordered a fuel tank relocation kit, new rear brake drums, and front disc conversion kit. We fully support this; on top of getting a better-stopping truck, they’ll also have one with better weight distribution. Oh, and the cab won’t smell like gas either.

Other than that, he spends the rest of the haul on replacement parts. That entails a new intake and exhaust manifold, some fresh sheetmetal to replace the rusty bits, and a parking brake kit. When all is said and done with these relatively easy D.I.Y. fixes, this classic F-100 will likely be a joy to drive.

With just this one post and picture, we’re left wanting Faboobagoblin to post more about their truck. Hopefully, they will in the future. We’d love to see how this truck ends up.
