1951 F-1

Restomod 1951 ‘Bonus-Built’ F-1 rebuilt by Arizona’s Premier Street Rods was featured at the 2017 SEMA Show.

Before the F-150 could become the king of the mountain, the best-selling vehicle in North America needed a solid foundation to begin its climb to the top. That foundation was first laid by the “Bonus-Built” Ford F-Series pickups of the post-war era, especially the F-150’s predecessor, the F-1.

And this 1951 F-1 is a lovely example. The restomod is but one of 600 lots set to hit the auction block near the end of August, when Mecum Auctions makes its annual trek to Monterey, California, a place whose blue waters would go well with the blue of this F-1.

One of the stars of the 2017 SEMA Show, as well as the cover story in the March 2018 issue of Street Trucks Magazine, this F-1 was built upon a TCI chassis by Premier Street Rods of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The interior is a far cry from its work truck roots, with fine gray leather upholstery and suede inserts to keep you comfy, and a set of Dakota Digital VHX gauges to keep you informed of the truck’s performance.

And what performance it has. Surrounded by gray-painted panels, the F-1’s 347 small-block stroker V8 (built by BluePrint Engines of Kearney, Nebraska) with Holley EFI delivers big power through the automatic transmission with overdrive to the Currie Ford 9-inch rear and its pair of 18-inch U.S. Mags wrapped in Toyo Proxes STII tires. Disc brakes on all corners provide plenty of stopping power, while the custom 2.5-inch exhaust lets the whole world know what you’ve got.

This “stunning amalgamation of power and panache” in PaintHouse Super Blue paint is a gem perfect for anyone’s garage. Whoever’s got the big wallet to snag this F-1 off the block will have a truck without peer.
