This Rare 2004 DSG Lightning Might be the Cleanest One Out There

Of all the colors that Ford applied to Ford’s Lightning pickup during it’s short production life, Dark Shadow Gray might just be the best. Of all the Lightnings Ford produced, 2004 might just be the best of all model years. That makes this 2004 DSG Lightning, quite literally, the best of the best.

Only 3,781 Lightnings were produced in 2004, with 648 of them receiving that glorious gray paint.  This example is easily one of the cleanest ones left, from the tidy exterior to the clean interior and engine bay. The painted lights fore and aft look great, but are easily changed if that isn’t your thing.

The stout 5.4 liter V8 hasn’t been left untouched, either, receiving its fair share of performance upgrades. Those include a 6lb lower crank pulley, cold-air intake, long-tube headers, and a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust. A custom Johnny Lightning tune and 13-14 lbs of boost add a good bit of oomph to an already fast truck.

The Lightning has been lowered with an Eibach kit, which eliminates all of that ugly factory wheel well void. Tinted windows and black wheels complete the look—which is quite sinister.  It’s got the guts to back up those looks, making this easily one of the nicer DSG Lightnings out there.
