Ford F-150

The 100,000-mile F-150 club might not exactly be what you might call exclusive. But at least it’s easy to join!

Ford owns one of the most iconic marketing slogans of all-time in “Built Ford Tough.” But those three words aren’t just marketing talk. They show up day in and day out as millions of F-150 trucks soldier on, performing the toughest of tasks. And they also show up for hundreds of F-150 Online members who have surpassed the legendary 100,000 mile mark. For them, racking up six digits on the odometer is more than an accomplishment. It’s also guaranteed entry into a not terribly exclusive club.

For folks like gopher, hitting that magical mark has been completely stress-free.

“My ’97 F-150 will hit 156,000 miles this week. Still no work at all on the powertrain other than regular fluid changes and a spark plug and wire change at 112,000 miles. No leaks and it doesn’t consume any oil either (even still running 5w30!). Fit and finish wise, it’s still incredibly tight and doesn’t have any rattles or buzzing noises. Unlike products from GM, which seem to have innumerable rattles by the time they reach 20,000 miles. I still enjoy getting behind the wheel of the ’97, that’s for sure!”

Bent6 has racked up some pretty impressive mileage on not just one F-150, but two!

“I guess I’m in the club twice. My F-150 has almost 236,000 miles on it. It needed new bearings in the diff and u-joints at 200,000, and alternator bearings at 160,000. Other than that, it is the way Ford put it together. It uses a little oil and has PS when cold, but it does squeak and rattle less than my brother’s ’99 GMC.”

But that sort of mileage is child’s play for mscott.

“1981 F-100, 550,000 miles. I have rebuilt the engine and replaced suspension parts as they fail. However, too much stuff is falling apart now, hence special ordering a new truck. Heh, I tend to use the crap out of my vehicles.”

Add gearmanx17 to the problem-free list as well. Despite the fact that his F-150 hasn’t been treated so well.

“My previous company truck (1997 F-150 SC with 4.6) now has over 200,000 miles and is still going strong. This 4.6 has not been babied or seen oil changes and service at proper intervals. It has had two tune-ups and every major component on the engine and truck are original (lower ball joints & rear spring were replaced once).”

1994f150XLT is more than a little pleased with the performance of his F-150. That much is clear by his response.

“Oh let me tell you! I have 162,434 km on my F-150 (just over 100,000 miles). And my truck runs like brand new! I’ve never even changed the spark plugs on it! I’ve had it since ’97, and it’s given me great service. It was never even rebuilt I bought it from a guy with a wrecked Lightning and it’s great! Built Ford Tough! It’s never given me a problem! I’m pretty sure the original wires are still on the engine too! It’s amazing! Every once and while, Ford puts out a truck that is SO well built, it’s almost invincible.”

And that’s just scratching the surface. The good new is, joining the 100k-mile F-150 club is as easy as can be. Simply head over here and tell us how many miles you’ve got on your truck, as well as how that experience has gone!
