Never Underestimate the Custom Appeal of an F-150

Ford owner takes a low-key approach to crafting one badass pickup.

If you’ve ever questioned the classic appeal of a vintage F-150 that’s been modified, then this video should help to clear things up.

Why? Well, it’s sure sign that not only is a Ford pickup capable of pulling off the feat, which some believe tends to date the trucks, but it’s also a shining example that if done right, a customized later model F-150 is a thing of pure, all-American beauty that’ll likely be appreciated years down the road. In fact, this 2006 Ford F-150, owned by a guy who goes by Dbrown Vision on YouTube, drives home that point in a subtle yet menacing kind of way.

According to the YouTube summary for the clip, the Ford truck has been leveled three inches and fitted with 35-inch Firestone Destination MT wheels, which gives it a more subdued, aggressive look. But after digging a bit deeper into Dbrown’s F-150, it’s clear that his pickup’s coolest mod is its exhaust setup, which he describes as a Y-pipe and catback straight pipe with dual exhaust and four-inch slashed cut tips that are 45Ds.

And if you find the specs intriguing, just wait ‘til you hear how this thing sounds when it’s fired up. It packs a pretty mean growl, to say the least. Though, on his page, Dbrown Vision contends that the exhaust sound is still pretty manageable for daily commutes. “Overall not too loud when driving around town.” writes the F-150 owner. “Definitely can still hear yourself think, and still talk to people. With my radio at half volume, it will cancel out the exhaust on the highway.”

Of course, Dbrown’s neighbors might have a different opinion. Then again, maybe they’re also huge F-150 fans. If so, this thing is probably music to their ears as well.
