Ford F150 Tonka Edition: 700HP Playground Dream Come True

By -

With fewer than 500 models produced, the F150 Tonka Edition featured a Shelby American boosted 5.0 Coyote.

Between the Lightning, Foose, Raptor, and Harley-Davidson edition F150s, Ford fans have had many options over the years to own a limited or unique edition Ford truck. Earlier today, our sister site, Ford Truck Enthusiasts took a look back at the increasingly-rare F-150 Tonka Edition.

To be honest, this is one of the few special edition Fords that I’ve not only never seen, but (gasp), didn’t even know about them back when the folks at Indiana’s Tuscany Motor Company were producing them from 2014-2016. (For shame, Palmer. For. Shame.)

For those who are also less in the know, the F150 Tonka Edition included bright, Tonka Truck paint, special body moldings and wheels, dark-tinted windows, a lift kit, Tonka badging and floor mats, and a supercharged 700 horsepower 5.0L Coyote Engine from the folks at Shelby American. In short, this is about as close as any Ford F150 has ever come to leaping from our childhood minds off the playground, out of the sandbox, and into the mud-slinging, tire-smoking real world.

And, remember, this 700 horsepower truck debuted a full year before the Hellcat and when the Shelby Mustang GT500 was only pumping out 662 ponies. While the official line is that 500 were produced from 2014 to 2016, our friends at Hagerty determined that while 200 were scheduled to be built in the final year, only 128 made it off the assembly line.

If you take a gander around the ye olde interwebs, you won’t find many for sale. (Shocking, I know). The cheapest one appears here on the Albuquerque Craigslist — $32 grand with 48,000 miles — while this Trovit ad says it has #11 of 200 built (in 2016) for $66 grand. We also found a RED 2017 model (?) in Texas for $53,000. Either way, if you’re looking for a fast, rare, and rugged F150, it might be a good idea to keep your eyes out for an F150 Tonka Truck edition.

Even if you don’t have a family now, your inner child will be thrilled.
