Ford F-Series Sales Crushing All Competitors
F-Series breaks records for 2017 and continues to be king of the road.
“On average, we’ll sell about two F-Series pickup trucks every minute,” Erich Merkle, U.S. sales analyst for Ford recently told The Detroit Free Press. “By the time you’ve finished this article you’re reading right now, we’ve sold another one.”
2017 was a banner year for Ford, especially for F-Series trucks sales. So much so, that Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas recently stated that the F-Series division alone may actually surpass the entirety of Ford in its value. This valuation was hardly surprising in light of the sales generated by the iconic F-Series. In 2017 Ford reached a 12-year high in sales with consumers spending a jaw-dropping $41.25 billion on F-Series trucks in North America alone. Sales in 2017 were up 9% from 2016, with 896,764 F-Series trucks sold.
“This was our 41st straight year as America’s bestselling pickup truck,” said Merkle.

Ford’s achievements are remarkable in the automotive field, but these numbers go well beyond one market. To put these sales figures in perspective, that means that Ford trucks made more money last year than Facebook, Coca-Cola, Nike, American Airlines, Best Buy, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Allstate, Rite Aid, Macy’s, and McDonald’s.
Ford’s F-series sales alone were greater than the gross domestic product of Bolivia, Jordan, and Iceland. And if you were to line up all all the Ford trucks sold in one year, that line would go from from Seattle, Washington to Miami, Florida. Yeah, it is pretty amazing.
It’s obvious to us why Ford truck sales are so strong, and Ford spokesman Mike Levine seems to have read our mind, saying simply, “We love our trucks.”
