Devolro Makes the Shelby F-150 Bulletproof

By -

One of the few ways to make the 750-horsepower Shelby F-150 meaner is to add armored panels.

Devolro has long been known for their unique armoring packages for the Toyota Tundra, but more recently, the Florida-based customization company has turned their attention to the Ford F-150. However, they didn’t start with your average half-ton truck, instead working their magic on one of the 750-horsepower Shelby-tuned Ford F-150 pickups.

Devolro Customization

If you visit the Devolro website, you are greeted by a wide array of customized Toyota Tundra pickups. The level of customization varies from one package to the next, but the company’s specialty is building near-invincible vehicles. After making a name for themselves in the industry with their work on Toyota products, Devolro has entered in the world of beefing up the Ford F-150.

Devolro Shelby F-150

To make as big a splash as possible with their first customized truck, Devolro didn’t just start with your average off-the-lot F-150, instead opting for the 750-horsepower Shelby version of the half-ton truck.

Armoring the Shelby Truck

The current Shelby F-150 is an incredible machine, with unique body work, high performance suspension, custom graphics and a supercharger package that lifts the output of the 5.0-liter V8 up to 750 horsepower. The Shelby F-150 is arguably the baddest upgrade option for the new Ford trucks, but what is it missing? It isn’t bulletproof!

Shelby F-150s Side by Side

That is where Devolro enters into all of this. As you can see in the video above, the company tears the Shelby F-150 apart, coating the entire truck in Line-X bedliner protection, adding custom front and rear bumpers, adding a premium, custom interior layout with black-and-red leather and unique wheels. We get to watch as each step of the process is complete and while the details on this exact build are slim, it looks as though the company added their bulletproof windshield and when the inner door panels removed, Devolro may have added bulletproof side glass and reinforcement panels inside of the doors.

In the long run, Devolro offers complete customization, so if you want them to dress up your 750-horsepower Shelby F-150, you can go as mild or as wild as you want. You can have the basic look of the Devolro packages or you can add the full armor package, protecting the occupants from all sorts of gun-wielding maniacs.

The Side-By-Side

After the video from the Devolro YouTube channel shows us the process of customizing the Shelby F-150, Devolro shows their built truck next to a “stock” version of the 750-horsepower Ford truck. This side-by-side look does a great job of highlighting the differences between the wicked pickup before and after the Devolro upgrades.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
