2017 F-150: The Greenest Full-Size Truck You Can Buy

New Ford F-150 isn’t just a smart buy, it’s easy on the environment too.
Let’s be honest. Most folks that buy pickup trucks probably wouldn’t consider “low environmental impact” to be at the top of their wish lists. But with engine technology rapidly improving, we’re starting to find out that we can have our cake and eat it too. Today, the engine options available in Ford’s F-Series lineup deliver more power with better fuel economy. And it turns out they’re greener as well.

So green, in fact, that the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy has bestowed the 2017 F-150 with a “Greener Choice” award. Specifically, the award goes to the two wheel drive, 2.7 liter Ecoboost V6 equipped F-150. The truck received an ACEEE Green Score of 39, good enough for 12th place in ACEE’s overall standings. The F-150 is the only full size truck to make the Greener Choices list.
This configuration of F-150 stands at the top of Ford’s lineup when it comes to fuel economy, returning 19 mpg’s in the city and 26 on the highway (22 combined). Those numbers are also best in class among all manufacturers. And the truck meets LEV-III ULEV70/Tier 2 Bin 4 on unleaded gasoline.
So maybe we can have it all. Ford has proven with the latest generation of F-150 that it can continue to increase power, torque, and towing capacity while simultaneously returning better fuel economy and a lesser environmental impact. And that’s something that everyone can get behind.
