LED 3rd brake light

Got a new 3rd brake light for my 2000 F-150 XLT Ext cab 4x4, and says plug-n-play. Took old light out and NO plug! Looks like straight hard wired deep in cab. Removed rubber grommet and pulled wire out as far as can go. Splice?? Here's my question...How can I splice the wires? New light has 4wires, 2 blk, 1 blue, 1 red. Old light has 3wires, 1 blk, 1 grn, 1 brown! Anyone tell me how to wire this?

I would have suggested returning it and buying a better unit that is simple plug and play. I would never hard wire something to my vehicle. Congrats on getting it to work.

the connector is about 18" inside the cab above the headliner.

Ford didnt design the whole light to easily be changed out, they designed the bulbs to be serviceable
