99 f150 tires!
My 99 f150 SC 4x4 has 73k miles on it and has the original goodyear tires ont he 17" rims. I noticed a few weeks ago that the front are missing big chunks of the tread. I think they call it cupping. Looks like just about every other tread is chunked out. This is on the drivers side outside and passenger side inside. I brought it to ford yesterday and they said the front end is fine and it is normal with these trucks if you dont rotate them enough.
I tried putting these tires in the back but they cause too much vibration and road noise on the highway.
So i need new tires. What do you folks recommend?? Can I go larger then the 265/60-17s that are on there now?
Have you seen wear like that and is it really just from lack of rotation? I admit i dont rotate them every 6k as recommended.
Should I replace all 4 or just the 2 that are messed up from being in the fronts too long?

With 73,000 miles, it for sure wouldn't hurt to get a set of all 4 tires! If I get 60,000 out of my tires, I am very happy and more than willing to drop the cash on another set of 4.
And yes, if you don't rotate often, you will see the tires wear differently on the front and back. Think of all the cornering the front tires do that the rears do not.
Yes you can larger.
As far as tire recommendations, a ton of people like the bfg AT KO's. Personally, I like the Bridgestone Dueler AT's. They come with a 50,000 mile treadlife warranty.

I just bought a set of Bridgestone Dueller A/T's for my '99. Firestone (yes Firestone) charged me 730.00 w/ a road hazard warranty on the 17" ers. I bought my truck used with 57K on it, and apparently it had the original Goodyears on it. They were just about down to slicks. Get yourself a set of tires on that puppy. You wouldn't believe the difference in the ride!
