Tire Size Calculator App for iPhone

Hey guys, not trying to spam here, but I created a free app for the iPhone that lets you calculate the simple geometries of a tire from the tire's label. I realize it's a simple calculation, but maybe it'll save somebody some time.

I'm not making any money off it, just thought it might be useful.

Name: Tires
Price: FREE!

Let me know if you think of any features you want me to add. I'll see what I can do.

here's a link if you use iTunes:

I like the one guy's feedback on the app store, "do no get this game is crap" hahaha. Worst game ever indeed, I agree, but for using to calculate tire size, great!

i got it on the palm pre'.

or you can use math which isn't hard.

ex... 265/70r17 equates to this

265mm times .70 (aspect ratio) divided by 25.4 (to equal inches) times 2 plus rim size (17) makes sense to me but i have been using that since high school.

ex. mm width/aspect ratio/rim size

mm width times aspect ratio divided by 25.4 ( to equal inches) times 2 (to equal two sidewalls) plus the rim diameter. if that makes sense.

it works in my head. if i didnt explain it right let me know and i'll try again

width x aspect ratio /25.4 x 2 + rim size = overall tire hieght

Thanks a lot guys! Let me know if you think of something else you want it to do.

Right now I'm working on giving it a speed conversion for different tire sizes. (so you'll know if you're doing 80 when the MPH reads 50 )

Also working on some simple rotational mass calculations...so you can get an idea of how much extra torque you'll need to get you're new, presumably bigger, tires rolling...and more importantly how much stopping power you'll need, and the relative the breaking distance you'll gain....now back to studying for finals...

Its really good man. I dont know if it would be possible but if you could input the size of your rim and the backspacing and have it tell you how far your wheels will poke out past the oem setup, that would be awesome. that is something I struggle with.

Again, good job. very clean app.

Definitely! I'll see if I can get it to at least give you a decent idea (it'll vary from vehicle to vehicle) . It should be able to tell you pretty precisely how far a wheel will stick out of an F150 though

I should be done by the end of this week, however, Apple takes like 3 weeks to approve an application (even when just upgrading). I'll post here when it's done.

Thanks for the suggestion!
