New tires??

I have a 2003 Lariat Supercrew 4x4...All stock with no mods.
I currently have the 265/70/17 on the truck and am looking to get some new tires... I have read almost every post on tires and have read that i can go to a 285/70/17 with no problem or scrubbing at all... I guess i want to confirm it once again just to to make sure,... Can any one with the 285/70/17 tire chime in on the subject and let me know what you think of the larger tire? Any scubbing or rubbing at all at full turn? Any power lost, Braking, Speedometer changes?

Also from reading the other posts i have decided to go with the BFG All terain-KO's... what is everyones opinion on these tires? I dont do much off road...I drive on the beach and through some mud but not alot... is this the best tire out there for the money or would i be wise to put the same amount in a different brand?

I really appreciate the info...

Buck

I went from Wrangler RT/S 265/70-17's to BFG AT KO 285/70-17's. Besides enhancing the looks of the truck, the tires have done exceptionally well in the snow so far since I've had them. Highway noise is minmal to none. I've NEVER had them rub. I recently raised my torsion bars but even before then, they didnt rub at all. Your speedometer will change about 2.5 MPH at 70 MPH. Not that big of a deal though. I would def. go with the BFG AT KO's, but if your wanting something like 305's, BFG's next size up is 315 on 17 inch rims (i think) so you'd have too look somewhere else for that. My freind has 305/70-17 with raised torsion bars on his '97 4x4 and they dont rub. Hope this helped.

Here's a link for calculating your speedometer change with a new size of tires:

285/70-17's will fit easily with room to spare using your OEM wheels. The BFG AT KO's are a great tire. I currently have about 55,000 miles on mine and am having a hard time even considering another tire.

What about this size tire?

Would a 295/70/17 rub at all? I want to get the biggest tire possible without ANY rubbing.... I think BFG makes one in that size. (i have to look at the website to make sure)

Any info on the 295/70/17 as far as rubbing? ..I just want to be 100% sure before i place my order...

285s won't rub at all that is what i had on my 01 supercrew than my dad decide that he is getting rid of his 06 which he put on 17 inch rims and 315 BF AT KOs and i decided to try them on and they fit but i had to do a little cutting out of the front and i might have to do some out of the back but it only does that when i go in reverse. i only had to cut like a couple inches out and it doesn't look bad at all. you can go to my gallery and look if u want. and see i have pictures from the side of what had to be cut out. https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?num=12616

nitto also makes the terra grappler a/t in a 295 size, they wont rub, i just got 285/70/17 dueler at revo's and can pretty much say they rock, and pretty sure that a 295 wouldn't rub

i saw the pictures...

i saw the pictures... from the galley.. is that the only thing that i would have to cut, just that little piece of plastic from the front and back under gaurd?

I like the look of your truck but am not sure if i am confident enough to cut on my truck like that....

I did look at the Notto tera grapplers in a 295 size... Any info on that brand and make of tire?

BFG doesn't make a 295/70-17. THey do make a 295/75-16, which is probably what you saw. Nitto is the only company I can think of that makes that size ,which is essentially a 34x12.00-17 tire. The Terra Grapplers are also an excellent tire.

Which Tire?

Which do you think is a better tire? The Nitto Tera Grappler or the BFG all Terain KO? Which would give longer milage? Both tires look like they have good traction or tread.

Would a 305 fit on my truck with out any rubbing or Scraping? ...Remember that i have no mods what so ever!!

i just found some info...

I just read a bunch of reviews on the BFG T/A KO and the Nitto Tera grappler... I am going with the BFG T/A KO's. Everything that i read said that was the better tire. I read alot of complaints about tread life on the Grappler.

I would love to put the 315/70/17 on my truck but am scared to start cutting on it... So i guess i will go with the 285/70/17...

I would love to get a BFG 295/70/17 or 305/70/17 but neither are made in that size...
