Exclamation 1997 transmission into 2002

I took a 1997 transmission out of an f-150 and put it into a 2002 Ford Expedition my overdrive light is flashing and it will not take overdrive. My computer reader brought up 4 codes. p0755, p0750, p1747 and p0743. It also seems to make my motor run rough. They are both 4.6L 2wd vehicles. Is there anyway I could wire it to work correctly?

The internal transmission harness changed in 1998 and the Valve body changed in 2001.

I would recommend dropping the pan and installing the internal harness, connector and valve body from the 2002 transmission.

you have to remove the valve body from the transmission case to swap harnesses.

I haven't taken a valve body off before. Could I do it while transmission is in vehicle? Can I drop it without stuff falling out and/or coming apart? Also if I did swap it would the transmission work right then? Or would I be better off just getting another one... I was just trying to build it on what I have laying around. Thanks.

Yes... all the trouble codes you listed are because the wiring harness doesn't match and the PCM can't read the TCC solenoid and Shift solenoids.

Code P1747 short or failure in EPC solenoid circuit (EPC = electronic pressure control solenoid)

code P0743 TCC solenoid circuit failure (TCC = torque convertor clutch solenoid)

code P0750 SS1 solenoid circuit failure (SS1 = shift solenoid 1, first gear)

code P0755 SS2 solenoid circuit failure (SS2 = shift solenoid 2, 2nd gear)

You can remove the pan and valve body with the transmission installed in the truck, I do it all the time.

Yes, I also had to switch out the EPC solenoid which required removing neutral safety switch and internal linkage shaft which I BARELY noticed! While putting back together.. But it works great! Thanks so much for your advice!! Runs GREAT! A lot of people said it wouldn't even work but what you said made sense. I'm selling the truck in a few days... I buy and sell cars and trucks and this was my first transmission rebuild. If I have another issue I would like to be able to contact you again because like I said most people said it wouldn't even work do you know how I can contact you again? I'm new to this site. Like I said thanks so much you just saved me $300!!
