Want to Tow my 01 f-150 screw 4x4

I was wondering, my trucks ready from the body shop and instead of paying 90 bucks to have a tow truck tow it about 19 miles I was wanting to pull it behind my f-250 using one of those Tow Bars to tow it. I only need to go about 23 miles down the road. If I put in neutral and kept the in two wheel drive do you think that would hear the transmission or engine? Any advice would help

I was reading my owners manual on my 00 F150 and it said u could tow it in nuetral and in 2wd for up to 50 miles. Any distance further than that and you would need to take the driveshaft out. I would say you should be ok towing it less than 25 miles.

The Ford owner's manual says you cannot flat tow a 4x4 with Automatic tranny and electric SOTF T-case. It does say that you can tow a 4x2 in neutral for less than 50 miles as long as you don't exceed 35 mph. The rear wheels will turn the output shaft of the t-case which is connected to the input shaft. The t-case input shaft is connected to the tranny output shaft so it will turn just like a 4x2 would. I fail to see the problem with towing following the 4x2 limitations.

Here's what I did

Since it runs fine, I put it in neutral and let the engine run while I pulled it. Seems to run ok, Hope I did not break anything.
