Steering linkage / bump stop lubing
Hey all-
Well, my latest visit to warranty claim land has revealed the following-
1. You must lube the steering linkage on new F-150's quite often.
2. If you don't (I have less than 20K) you'll get...
* A ridiculously loud metallic CLICK on full right or left lock as you transition to the next direction (as in a three point turn)
* Odd bumping sounds while turning.
The "lube of bump stops" corrected the problem for now, but I think I got a SNAP out of it last night in a parking lot, so I don't know...
Any input or past experience?

With a lift and larger tires, I would say that you require more frequent lubing than a stocker. With a lift, you are adding stress to steering components so maintenance is crucial. This is why I would not dare lift my SD even though it has a straight axle. I had a '79 Bronco with a 4" suspension lift and a 3" body lift. The 36" tires put alot of wear and tear on many components, not to mention the 460:-). Please make sure to reduce the time between your maintenace intervals. You should be able to put years of worry free miles on your truck as long as you pay more attention to it. Just my 2 cents, but I think it's worth something.
