Post 3.73 Gears

I know I know this has been discussed before but! Can anyone that has changed to the 3.73 gears tell me what to expect? What 1/4 gain? Do you gain bottom end at the expense of top end in the 1/4?

Hilander, I havn't switched to the 373 yet but I don't believe that it would hurt you on the top end. You shouldn't even need to put it in overdrive in the 1/4 mile. So I would say if you want them get them they could only help.

Hilander,
I guess I am the test bed for gears. I've had 3.55s to 4.10s back to 3.55s now to 3.73s. With 3.73s you gain about 350 rpms (5300 rpms) through the 1/4 in 3rd gear and 26" tall tires.
With 3.55s you're at 4950 rpms. The cams start falling off at approx. 4950-5350 rpms so shifting at 5400 rpms puts you right at the end of the power band.
With 4.10s I was going throught the 1/4 at 5800 rpms way over the power band and making nothing but heat in the blower.
As far as 1/4 mile ets expect approx.15-.20 tenths increase depending on the launch. Since the 3.73s also launch harder.
With 3.55s and 26" tall tires (ET Streets) your final drive ratio is 4.10s but on the street with 28" tall F1s you have 3.73s.
