Post Whistling Billet Grill. Mystery Solved....

The good news:
Not a mechanical problem.

The bad news:
It was the top grill. Paper and tape went on this morning. No noise.

Now: Is the noise worth keeping the grills...?

TBL - guess that depends on what song it is whistling. Do you know where in the grill the noise is coming from? Is it in the middle, top, bottom or at one of the edges? Did the air flow change enough that noise might be coming from something behind the grill? I guess what I'm asking is did you just cover up the whole thing or did you cover parts of it and try to figure out exactly where the noise is from. I know those grills are a pain in the **** to install and if it were me I think I would try to locate the noise and see if the problem was something I could fix before I yanked them out. Anyway, just some thoughts. Keep us posted.

Rich, this is probably a stupid question but since I don't have a billet grille I have to ask. Is the grille made from tube stock or bar stock? If it's tube then air blowing across the ends of the tubes could cause noise, kind of like blowing across the top of a soda bottle.

Rick:

Didn't have to time to determine which region of the grill actually produces the unwanted sound. Will find out soon.

Hawkeye:

The grills aren't tubular. They're solid stock shaped somewhat like reeds. Hence the sound producing qualities?

Would hate to have to remove/replace. I like the look to much for that.
