Ok, I am new here, and if this is posted in the wrong location, then please move it. First off, is this truck worth the asking price?

Also, can you take a 1978 F-350 4-door cab, and put it onto the above truck? yes, I realize the box wouldn't fit anymore, but could you put a short box on it then?

For $200 if you a motor to put in it and you are looking for either a beater, wood hauler, yes it would be worth getting.

As for putting a crew cab onto that frame you would have to make a bed to put on it, even a short box would be too long. In order to get a crew cab with short box to work you would have to find a frame off a truck that had a super cab with long box. One thing that you could do, is put a supercab with a short box onto that frame. Know matter what you do, unless you keep it a reg cab long box, it would require moving cab mounts locations.

Personally, I like the look. I am working on a early 90s model F series where I have a crew cab mounted on a short frame. The bed is nothing more than a homebrew flat bed. Its my trailrunner project. Ill try to post some pics when I get the bed fabbed up.

Stock I believe that you can fit 33X12.5X15's with very minor rubbing. The bolt pattern is 5X5.5"

That would be a tad bit tricky if you want to run the EFI off the 90 4.9L. That would require transfering or buying wiring harnesses and also moving the computer. If you just wanted to swap the motor it self, but use a mechanical fuel pump, carb, distributor and brain box out of the 79 you could easily do that. The tranny wouldn't be a problem either, other than you would have to pump lines for the hydro clutch off the 90.

Everything that you have been asking about can be done, but it just takes time and money. Heck I have seen video of a lifted early 70's F350 4X4 crew cab, long box with a well built 6.0L diesel in it, that would be basically my dream truck!! Lots of style with tons of power and good fuel mileage.
