93', 302 engine idle runs rough!

I just installed another remanufactured engine. The "check engine" light comes on after 10 minutes of driving. When I crank up the motor in the morning, the choke runs the motor real smooth. Then after a few minutes, the engine starts to run a bit rough. When I come to a stop and turn the motor off and after 5 minutes of sitting there, I start the engine up and the motor idle is not consistant. It gets better after I rev the motor a bit and it starts running better. Any help here on this?

Sounds like you have a problem with your EGR or purge system.
You do not have a choke and a lot of the systems do not come into play until the engine warms up and that is why it runs good at cold start up.

You need a crash course on the fuel injection systems on these trucks. Choke? Not so much.

Pull codes. Great place to start.

OK! I had an expert run a diagnostic on my truck. He says that my EGR solenoid needs to be replaced along with the O2 sensor. The problem I get is that I went to Motorcraft catalog, typed in my VIN number and all the parts they list are the connectors to the EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) solenoid. Where can I find a; EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) solenoid? It has a filter cap on the top of it! Anybody have a clue?

I found both parts on ebay about a year ago. You never know what you might find there. If you search for it, search by the motor rather than the vehicle. Sometimes you find more that way. You may want to check advance auto parts website, if you can't find it.

The EVR Sel. doesn't have a filter cap, but the TAB & TAD Sel.'s directly above it do.
