Axle seal

Well was doing some exhaust work last night and saw gear oil leaking from me brake drum onto the tire
What all is involved in replacing the rear axle oil seal?

Jack it up and block it
Pull the wheel and brake drum
Pull the diff cover and drain it.
Remove the C-clip
Pull the axle inspect for wear
Pull and replace the seal
Re-assemble in reverse order
Re-fill diff

Thanks, I figured it would be pretty straight forward. I was looking in a haynes and it says that the bearing/seal needs a press to be replaced?!? But it also shows two different axle assemblies. Im guessing I can pull mine in the driveway with no trouble?

Oops.
Yours is an 89, I just noticed. What rear end do you have? Those instructions are for a Ford 8.8"

While your in there replace both sides seals and outer bearings.
Doing it yourself it will only cost another $25.
With the year and milage there has to be wear on the bearing also which could cause the new seal to fail prematurely.

If there is gear oil in the drum that means your rear brake linings are contaminated also. Replace those linings so your rear brakes will continue to operate effectively.
