Press brake to start or selenoid going bad?

There have been a few times that the first try with the key only gives my a "click" sound. Second try and it would fire right up. Last night I jump in and it just "clicked" 5 or 6 times. Then I depressed the brake pedal and she fired right up. I'm wondering if there is a safety feature thats supposed have the brake depressed while starting? If not, then I think my selenoid is starting to go.

As you know we have the same year F150. I don't have to depress the brake to start it. I only have to do that to shift out of park.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but there you have it.

Good Luck,
John

Thanx John...

I didnt think it was the brake, but wanted to be sure first.

I know they replaced the starter just before I bought it, I'll check and make sure the wires are all tight. If so, I think I have a new selenoid in the tool box, that I have saved over the years.

Good luck with it!

Say, have you tried to tow your TT with it yet, even if just for a test? If so, how did it do?

How are you doing on MPG? I am at about 15 MPG, but I have the smaller engine and a lighter (I guess since its a shorty) truck. But I have been doing mostly city driving, so I hope for 20 on the hwy.

You a member of any of the camping or RV boards? Like Open Roads or iRV2?

Cheers!
John

About 13 city and 16 hiway, so far. Still trying to figure out the EGR code, so if I ever do, that might increase it a little.

Havent towed with it yet, I want to put a new brake controller first ( prodigy ).

Yes, I'm a memeber of RV.net ( its the same as openroads, I think ) nick= JimRoss.

I also host a forum for Aerolite's.
