Press brake to start or selenoid going bad?
There have been a few times that the first try with the key only gives my a "click" sound. Second try and it would fire right up. Last night I jump in and it just "clicked" 5 or 6 times. Then I depressed the brake pedal and she fired right up. I'm wondering if there is a safety feature thats supposed have the brake depressed while starting? If not, then I think my selenoid is starting to go.

As you know we have the same year F150. I don't have to depress the brake to start it. I only have to do that to shift out of park. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but there you have it. Good Luck, John |
Thanx John...
I didnt think it was the brake, but wanted to be sure first. I know they replaced the starter just before I bought it, I'll check and make sure the wires are all tight. If so, I think I have a new selenoid in the tool box, that I have saved over the years. |

Good luck with it! Say, have you tried to tow your TT with it yet, even if just for a test? If so, how did it do? How are you doing on MPG? I am at about 15 MPG, but I have the smaller engine and a lighter (I guess since its a shorty) truck. But I have been doing mostly city driving, so I hope for 20 on the hwy. You a member of any of the camping or RV boards? Like Open Roads or iRV2? Cheers! John |
About 13 city and 16 hiway, so far. Still trying to figure out the EGR code, so if I ever do, that might increase it a little.
Havent towed with it yet, I want to put a new brake controller first ( prodigy ). Yes, I'm a memeber of RV.net ( its the same as openroads, I think ) nick= JimRoss. I also host a forum for Aerolite's. |
