Wiring up aux. backup lights

Hey All,

I bought a set of Maxxima MWL-05SP Heavy Duty 6 LED lights to hook up under the rear bumper, for better lighting backing up. I don't know if I should wire them for everytime I go in reverse or just hook them up to an aux. switch. Any tips? Also, any tips for wiring these up?

I really appreciate all the help.

i have seen/heard of some doing both on a 3 way switch. 1 position its all off 2nd position comes on only in reverse, 3rd is just on reguardless of reverse or key on. I would love to have that on my truck but wireing all that is not gonna happen on my own.

It's not that hard to wire up. I've got a wiring diagram in my pics that I used for my backup lights.

Wiring that is pretty straight forward, instead of wiring up two switches you are only using one to do the same thing. Make sure you are using a relay though and just follow the wiring diagram that comes on the package and you should be golden. The only thing you have to remember is what is positive and negative when hooking everything up. I know it's going to add more cost to the project but using wire in multiple colors helps keep what wire does what straight but using common colors for power(red) and ground(black) should aslo be used to avoid confusion.

Well I have never wired anything but my waverunner trailer, so considering this is wiring lights on my truck - Have any other info? Basically run the wires under the bed of the truck up to the engine compartment? If I sound clue less with this, its because I am. Thanks

EDIT - Adding cost by using different color wiring, is not an issue, as long as we're not talking $100's of dollars.

Thanks, Much Appreciated. Stupid question, how and where do I run this? Run it on the side of the truck or is there a certain place where to run the wires underneath? Any tips greatly appreciated.
