CAI for F250 6.2L Worth it???
Okay, I've been considering getting a K&N CAI for the truck, however the dealer of course "warned" that if I did that it would void my warranty. Which I guess I never really considered on my last truck, but is it worth the price as far as HP and MPG go?
Thanks in advance.

CAI will not void your warranty. Most on here seem to stay away from CAI's. They prefer to do Gott's mod and leave it at that it seems. I have one and like it. Whether it helped any on MPG, I don't know. I bought the CAI the day I bought the truck and put it on before I had the truck a week. It seemed to have a little more grunt, but not a lot. Now, if you go with a nice exhaust and a tune, it would probably more beneficial to you.

I have purchased several cai kits....dont waste your money. They do little if anything for mpg or hp. Looks at k&n's own advertising...they say it "may" increase mpg. The hp charts they show indicate minimal power increases at 4,000 rpms or higher. How many people consistently drive at 4-5000 rpms? They look cool and some sound cool but otherwise they are a nice boat anchor.
Likewise with the performance exhaust....sound cool, look neat, with NO or Little increase in performance or mpg....another great boat anchor.
Another issue i just had last month....i had a magnaflow muffler installed on my 2010 5.4 f250. After 1,000 miles, i noted a difference in shift patterns and a lack of low end torque. I had it removed and replaced the original muffler, and it took another 600 miles or so for the computer to re-adjust, but everything is back to normal.....now i have a magnaflow boat anchor....ugh!

Wow. I never got an e mail saying anyone replied. However I was informed by the service department that if I dare install one they will void my power train warranty on the engine. Now they gave the reason because of the fine dust that is always blowing in our area. Does anyone know any truth to this?

It is well known to not use a K&N on a powerstroke because the "more flow" just means more crap to get through and dust the turbos.
Sounds like your dealer is stupid like the one by my house. I drive to the next town south with a service manager that doesn't care even if you put on an industrial diesel psychotic tune, and will still warranty the truck.
