Custom bumper/winch hitch build
Ha no problem man. I have loved the FX4 since it came out, and yours is no exception. I wish I had a welder sometimes so that I could mess around and make some shat. Kind of a side note, how do you like those tires?
I love seeing custom stuff, especially when it comes to welding. I can't wait to see the finished product. How thick of a plate are you gonna use to mount the winch? I recommend 1/4" at a minimum but 3/8" would be even better since you are planning on getting a 12,000lb winch. No need to go any thicker than 3/8", it's what I used, drilled 4 holes and welded it up. What brand of winch are you planning on using?
The tires are great. I have had alot of questions about them cuz u dont see alot of guys running them. They're super quiet on the road, clean out great, are awesome in all kinds of conditions, and are wearing very well.

, do you have any pics of your setup? I am still trying to figure out the best way to gusset the plate to the 2" tubing. The winch is an Australian company called Tuff Stuff, all their specs meet Warn and they have a longer warranty...so we'll see. Should have it all put together in a week or two
Yea its going to be 1/4", and I got the winch in the mail the other day and its actually a 12500 lb

I ended up powder coating the bracket for the fairlead rollers as well as the shackles. I have only used the winch a couple times and noticed that there is a little bit of stress on the bull bar, despite the fact that I beefed it up a little with some plate behind the failrlead rollers. I used 3/8" plate to mount the winch. It works for now but I'm redoing the setup, building a road armor type bumper. I have more pics in my album and on another thread. 1/4" will work great though. Make sure your bolts are long enough to go through your mounting plate. The ones that came with my winch were extremely short. I'm sure your winch will weigh over 100 lbs, that's alotta bulk to mount up front so make sure that plate is a beast and the welding is on point. You might want to run a couple passes with the welds. Lookin forward to seeing more pics. Great job so far! Keep it up. You'll be winching in no time.
Quick note, ill do a write up on all this but i gotta let you guys know the integrity of this bumper. Bought 4 ft of 2" tubing yesterday and stuck it in the receiver just to get a feel for how it would look, my roomates sat on the bar and jumped up and down, thats a total of 550lbs and the damn bumper didnt even budge. haha. looks like some quality work
