Upgraded to Factory Nav System...Pics Inside

Bought it off ebay and got it installed a few weeks ago...

Overall, I am very impressed. It doesn't have the features of most aftermarket systems, like backup cam, ipod interface, or DVD playing, but I am a sucker for a factory look on my cars and trucks, and I don't really need the other stuff anyway.

My truck is an 05 King Ranch with audiophile and steering wheel controls. The seller took my information and programmed it before he sent it out, so everything works great, including the wheel controls.

I didn't take any install pics, but here is a great thread with install instructions and pictures in a 2005.

Here is the finished product...

I love it! It really dresses up the interior and is super easy to use. The interface and controls are very logical and simple.

Was it that hard to install? or was it a simple plug and play? Also if you dont mind me asking. How much did you get it on ebay for?

Its pretty much a simple plug and play, but you need an antenna adapter from a Chrysler (wierd I know) to make it work. On the older models, there is some trimming necessary on the mounting tabs as noted in the install thread I posted.

^^^You talkin' to me or the other guy?

I bought mine out of the classifieds here from a guy who had an 05' Lariat. He also had it on e-bay but no store/dealer type of thing. Post in the "wanted" section in the classifieds here. You just want to make sure that it comes with the antenna adapter, the navigation antenna, and find out what version the software is. There is a new version out (7.0 I think or something like that).

Actually, there's a member here that sells them I believe. The cheapest you will find. "nothingbutford". Try looking for him

these things are all over ebay. search "ford navigation". you should be able to pick one up for 600-700, maybe even less, but do not pay any more than 700. I used to sell these, they install in about 2 minutes once you have the dash panel off. Also, if you have the audiophile sytem in your truck, chances are you're going to need to get the unit re-programmed. some vehicles need the antenna adapter, but you can also get these on ebay for less than $10 shipped, theres a million on there right now.

Also, someone mentioned an ipod interface. . .

Theres an direct plug and play unit available that snaps in to the harness in back of the nav unit and it allows you to control your ipod from the nav screen. All of the music info is displayed right on the screen also and it charges your ipod while the car is on so you never even really need to touch the ipod once its plugged in. I can go dig out the box and find the name if anyone needs it.

I'm definitely interested. Now is there a special navi unit you need or when you say available do you mean a separate unit for all navi's? (if that makes sense)

No offense but you could have gotten the same look with an aftermarket unit.
