That's a beautiful job, I don't know what I can do with my 2001 k.R. Limited funds.

Thanks,

I don't have sub woofer or rear entertainment or steering wheel controls. 2006 XLT. Would there be a chance I wouldn't have to reprogram?

You would have a better chance than most.

I got mine programmed by Will at HandHdistributers from Addison, Texas. Check ebay search for "ford navigation". He should come up as one of the items: "PROGRAMMING FOR FORD/LINCOLN/MERCURY NAVIGATION RADIOS" I've had him do 2- one for me and for my son. We both have F150's. Both work great. But, when you first get nav. unit(from ebay or wherever), I would always disconnect the wiring connector from my radio. First, take off bezel and either take out radio (4-7mm hex head screws) or reach back and disconnect harness from rear left on radio. It's sometimes hard to do this. Better to take radio loose. Then you can plug into nav. unit and make sure it powers up, etc.

Did you check if it needs to be programmed to work with your steering controls?

Did it come w/the antenna adapter?

Upgraded to Factory Nav System

That looks beautiful, I wish I had your talent. I have 2001 KR and have been looking for a factory GPS system, can't seem to find one. I love my old truck and I'm always trying to dress it up a little more.

For you guys upgrading, I have an 05 XLT with a factory 6 disc changer.. Would an OEM Ford navi unit be a direct plug and play?

I just installed a pioneer navi unit but love the factory look.

Removing the trim is pretty simple -- just open the ash tray. Next, pull at the bottom with your fingers. It will offer resistance, but it will pop out eventually. Once the bottom portion is loose, there are four more snaps -- one on either side about the height of the radio, and two on either side at the very top. Just put your fingers behind the trim piece, work your way up, and they will pop out.

Open the ash tray and with your index fingers pull the bottom of the panel out. It will just pop right out. There are clips at the bottom, the middle, and the top right before the bend.

If you guys are looking for another option to reprogram the factory head units, you can call Dominic at the Automotive Resource Center in Mass (781-721-0092). I know they program a lot of units and I just brought a Mecury unit to them and they reprogrammed it for my 2008 SuperCrew. They do a great job.

Do you have to have the navigation cd in the unit to use the navigation or is that just to load the software?
