Back to the Gotts intake. Thinking about doing this tomorrow. Kind of confused, but I think its b/c I haven't taken my intake off before.
Anyway, Let me know if I have this correct please.
I take off the original piece that goes into the fender.
Put piece of PVC pipe 1/2 into coupler. Connect with hose clamp.
Then jam the pvc pipe into fender hole.
Then connect other side of couple to rest of stock intake.

If this is correct, how long of a piece of pvc and coupler do I need? How far do I stick the pvc into fender, and how far do I stick pvc into coupler?
you should find it laid out nicely here...

NO this will not work on the 3 valve 5.4 engines due to the redesigned air intake tubing

if anyone is messing with a 3 valve engines air intake system do not do it until you get a custom tune

Took me a second to understand, but got it now. Gonna do this afternoon.
Lowe's had a 3" piece of aluminum piping, for lamp post, wonder if that would work? I just got the pvc, smallest piece was 2", so going to have a lot extra.

On a side note, how do you like that k&n filter? I just got the purculator plus, it was 25, and the K&N was 56. Is it worth the difference? How often do you have to oil/clean that thing?

Any of you guys actually use a file? I've been filing away for ever, and there is no way I'm going to be able to get that pipe 2" into the fender. Guess I'm going to have to buy a dremel or something.

One question with the hole in the fender. Does the stock intake take much air from the first void, just wondering b/c it seems that one will be covered if you shove the pvc 2" into the fender.

i tried using a file. gave up. used a cheap knock off dremel. gave up. used the dremel piece in a drill. gave up. used a sawzall to cut some off the top. gave up. finally i dug up an old as dirt belt sander out of our basement. got half way done and broke the belt. had to drive to home depot and get another. that belt sander really did the trick! it took me a total of like a month from start to install.

Well picked up a dremel. Got the pipe to stick. Not gonna get it 2" in though, so I'm going to have to trim off about 1.5" from the back. Got dark on me, so going to finish in morning. Hopefully leaving the intake open all night wont mess anything up. Put a drape over it. Hope that works. Dremel works pretty good. Just doesn't look to clean.

How do you do the signature or put a picture of your truck at the end of each post?

I'm not understanding - what's with the 2" stuff ??

I used a Milwaukee 1/2" drill motor and a 3" carbide hole saw attachment...

Just hang on for life when you hit the go trigger - Don't let go now
