Question of the Week: 5.0L V8 or 3.5L EcoBoost?

5.0L, why? I love V8 rumble. Can't get that with the fancy shmancy Ecoboost. I am glad Ford made the Ecoboost work so Ford has good recognition for it, but it wouldn't be for me.
The only reason that ever was a good truck was because of the Cummins that Dodge had no part of building for it. Otherwise, that barely deserves to be called a real truck. Rust bucket, inconvenient, flimsy and overweight piece of Daimler inspired junk seems more appropriate to me, but, that's just me.

LMFAO !!! I'll drink to that! ( reckon though, that Texicans are genetically incapable of processing anything metric, you may need to restate that in Imperial measures )
I've been blessed with no less than TWO rattling 5.slows in my neighbourhood. Conversely, all the EB owners I know have had ZERO issues and huge grins on their hairly 'ol Canuckistanian mugs. Plus - the only thing propping up the peaky 4.951 L powerband is the 6-speed. While the EB would still fly with a 2-speed Powerglide behind it,
And remember - the EB is also on that very same 15% diet. So - that is moot. ( Does definitely help the 2.7 EB though, and make IT a true competitor - so much so that it is actually quicker than the 5.slow ).
No thankee.
(PS - if'n a Mod decides to edit my posts, at least try not to destroy the paragraph formatting. I should not have to fix these sorts of things. - Thanks.)

I think you're overestimating the Eco quite a bit bud. Haven't lost to a single Eco on the road yet, and that includes one with a 93 octane Livernois tune, heartthrob exhaust, and AFE intake. They're good motors, but they aren't the amazing machine people make them out to be. And before you start, yes I have driven an Eco. It was an FX4 Tremor, and I wasn't that impressed.
Oh really... Please show some evidence of this. You do know the 3.5EB has actually been on the market longer than the 5.0. It has also been in factory backed race cars. 5.0, not so much...

B.S. Show some time slips and or video evidence. A stock EB will walk a stock 5.0. A tuned EB will pull its pants down and spank it.

3.5L EcoBoost..... for real truck work, yes either 3.5L and 5.0L. For daily driver, commuting and light work like grocery getter, seldom home depot trips, and family hauler 2.7L would be ideal. For my need, I own a travel trailer, so 3.5L EcoBoost is logical choice in high altitude enivroment and the added torque power is bonus.
