Hennessey VelociRaptor is Your V8 Powered Raptor Alternative

It’s no secret that a great number of Ford fans are not exactly thrilled with Ford’s decision to fit the Ecoboost V6 in the new Raptor. For the oldest of the old school among us, anything other than a V8 in a truck—especially a performance oriented one—is simply blasphemy.

Luckily, the V8 worshipers have options thanks to an abundant aftermarket. One of which is the latest and greatest from Hennessey: the VelociRaptor 700. Not only does the VelociRaptor make up for the regular Raptor’s cylinder deficiency, it promises to leave it in the dust as well.

That’s because the Coyote 5.0 that takes up residence under the hood is no stocker. Fitted with a 2.9 liter supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, high-flow induction, some calibration and dyno tuning, it pumps out a stout 704 horsepower at the crank.

Much like the regular old Raptor, Hennessey’s F-150 on steroids has been fitted with a number of parts that make it suitable for some off-road fun. A beefed up suspension, custom front and rear bumpers, LED lighting, and some beefy tires ensure that you can keep up with the Raptor on the pavement or off of it.

Really, the only downside to the VelociRaptor is it’s price. At a cool fifty bucks shy of $100k, it certainly isn’t cheap. But if you’re the kind of person that wants a Raptor but can’t stand the thought of driving a six cylinder truck, it might just be worth every penny.
