double din detachable faceplate aka boat anchor (better than losing the whole unit, again...), not sure on the engineering, but think jvc could have left more in the main unit vs. in the part you carry around.

Need some serious pockets: not only is it twice as high, it's at least twice as thick, and at least 4x the heft. (cda-9887 for comparison).
