Death of a F150
Death of a F150
It is with a heavy heart that I bring the sad news of the demise of my '99 F150 SuperCab 'company car'. Nope, she (Betty Ford) didn't die a natural death, she was killed when a fellow employee that had been allowed to use her for a trip to a job site while I remain 'chained' to my desk today and his truck was in the shop, ran a red traffic light and was broad sided by a 18 wheeler. Betty had been a very reliable and energetic contributor to my work days and she was always ready to roll.
Betty had acumulated over 198,000 vertially troble free miles of service and is survived by me, my wife and daughter . . . oh yea, the 18 wheel driver is ok as well with the blockhead who is suffering only minor bumps, bruises and what should be a termination of employement (3 crashes in last 18 months!!!) except that he is the owners son!
From what I am told she gave her all in protecting her driver but she is now in several large and very many small pieces. They say the inital impact was to the passanger side front fender witch spun her around for a second hit by the trailer axles to the rear which almost totally removed the back of the of the truck (axle, bed, you name it, without guestion, she's gone)
They took her to a wrecking yard somewher in South Hill, VA and I sent a guy to get Mark and collected all my 'personal effects' and get some PICs of both the scene and what remains of Betty.
Oh well, I guess I need to line up a ride home from the office tonight while I wait to see what I'll be driving for work now, hopefully not a hand-me-down.
