Lets ruin shifty's dominance in the working forum hahaha

haha well since shifty seems to be the only person with a thread in this section i decided to start one for fun....:banana::banana::banana:

This forum is pretty slow as of late... Let's make sure we stay on topic and not go the General Discussion route. :)

dilloncawthon 07-01-2009 01:35 AM

ha yep i've noticed, and to keep this thread on topic i guess i should put a question in it.
So how many of you guys actually go to the limits on the trucks towing capacity? tells us what you've towed and pics are more than welcome.

dsq3973 07-01-2009 09:15 AM

The last heavy load I have in my truck was a month ago and that was 2400lb of 1-1/4 roofing nails other than that its golf clubs.

Butterfingers!
I'd hate to mow that lawn when you was done roofing.

I bought 50 lb box of fencing staples in 1992.
The box still weighs about 38 lbs.

They were on a pallet in boxes. And I am still finding roofing nails with my truck tires from the reroof I had done on my house five years ago.

My work truck...

I'll play...

Here is my truck towing about 7500 lbs. of boat and trailer:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...quite-well.jpg

and here it is hauling 1 1/2 yards of mulch this past spring:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...ards-mulch.jpg

oh and here it is hauling some firewood this past winter:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...-gate-here.jpg

I work my truck a lot, I just don't always think to take pics and when I do it's with my crappy cell phone. :ll:

That is oak loaded on the bed to give you some idea of how heavy the load really is!

Interesting thread here but I vote that everybody go back to giving Shifty hell for overloading his truck. It's become a custom around here plus it's just plain fun to do.

By the way (and back to this thread) I try not to go to the max on payload or pulling capacity on my '06 F150 with a 5.4/3.55 rear gears/towing package. I'd rather haul in two loads or just get a Super Duty.

I have gone slighty over on pulling capacity but only twice totaling about 90 miles. The truck seemed to handle it better than your average 1/2 ton pickup.

Am I as naughty as Shifty? Yes and no...I've overloaded the crap out of 1/2 ton pick-ups before but I haven't done it to this paticular truck I drive now.

08stx4x4 07-05-2009 01:24 AM

Most I've ever done was about 2.5-3yds of mulch for work.

Here's a couple pics of it after I had unloaded some already:

wow! Ford working hard!

Barrett 07-08-2009 11:57 PM

Most i've had in the bed was around 1.2k lbs of a tree the day after I got the truck. Unfortunately the pictures got lost with the old phone. Haven't had much close to that so haven't taken pictures of anything else when its loaded down.

_cashel 07-11-2009 12:33 PM

When I'm at my farm in Ocala, my bed is usually filled with gas cans, tree limbs, or whatever else I can think of. Down here in Orlando, I'm the only guy in town with a truck it seems, so I've been getting calls all the time the last few weeks helping people move.

Shifty's been in forums other than this one here. I use to think he was joking most of the time, but then he learned how to post pics... - This kids for real!!

Come to find out, he lives to damn close to here, - not quite a stones throw, but I bet I could peg him with a good driver lol.

As crazy as he is, overall he's a good kid, hearts in right place and he takes criticism, flaming well. That said, I would hope all that heightens awareness somewhat when it comes to safety,- at the very least.

But,-your absolutely correct -

i dont think ive ever overloaded my truck by hauling stuff in the bed. ive moved some furniture a few times, hauled a 4 wheeler for a friend, and i used to have a 75 gallon fuel tank along with a loaded down toolbox. the only thing i have a picture of is hauling a bunch of fertilizer and grass seed. i had 24 bags of fertilizer (50 lbs. each = 1200 lbs.) and 4 bags of seed (40 lbs. each = 160 lbs.) for a grand total of 1360 lbs. i only had 10 psi in my air bags but the truck didnt squat much at all.

Here is a page right from shifty's book. This is my baby that I still drive every day and she is very good to me with good gas mileage unlike the signature. I'm at 140,000 and at times it seems like I'm trying to kill her.

Don't worry, I only went maybe six miles with this load. The tile store was closing and I had to take it all at once. I really like my kitchen now!

I just moved into my first apartment a week ago and I towed a 6X12 enclosed trailor full with furniture and what not 190 miles on I-95. Im not sure how much it weighed but I towed it with my bumper and it bent the bumper down a little bit. Id have to say that was my heaviest load. And my 4.2 handled it like a dream.:beers:

BAD DRVR 07-26-2009 09:16 PM

Also If you will take notice of my Andy-engineering and look at the edge of the hood closest toward the passenger door you will see some red. Those are the wires which I installed to turn on the heater blower in the middle of last winter when it went out. It was artic cold and I wasn't screwing around. I just tapped off the battery, to the blower motor, then out the hood, though the passenger door, and onto the dash with a rocker switch. Yeah you can use that trick for all your custom wiring needs, I give you permission

Here is the stance of having a Rize lift and 37 tires and wheels in the back. I drove 500 miles like this. There where lots of weird smells and new drips when I got back home.

 How the heck did you fit 37 wheels and tires in the back of that thing???

BAD DRVR 08-06-2009 05:24 PM

Thats a lot of tires and wheels but those rangers are unstoppable. That should be a lifetime supply right?

man wish i had the pic of my truck hauling a old driveway to the dump and the look on dudes face when i rolled across the scale!

Blue150 09-11-2009 01:56 PM

Geez, you guys really use your trucks. The heaviest I have hauled is a full ½ cord of wood in mine and I have only done that once. No pics but I am going to get another load this weekend so I will get a picture.

I feel like reviving something today...and not homework!:D

Kubota L3400 and a 24' diamondback car hauler when my dad loaded it.(I load it more to where the truck is level hauling it.)

Hauling railroad ties from Borger, Tx to Amarillo, the only time I noticed them was when i was buckin' the wind the whole way back!!

Don't know the weights on either of them, but the truck didn't notice 'em one bit!

Thanks man,
I can't thank the "old man" in that third picture enough. My parents are the greatest, bought me that as a senior present for highschool. Of course the '99 F-150 I was driving probably would have keeled over had I driven it back and forth between Lubbock and Amarillo like I do

Nice truck! It's most likley going to prove one Fords better year models. You might be surprised what these older Fords can do, I pull a car hauler just like that except it's black lol,- with a 98 4x4 that has over a quarter million miles. I'm usually pulling conversion vans. Still doin it w/ original factory u joints no less. Strong truck that's never used a drop of oil between changes. Got lucky with this one

I wish I had pics of my truck towing my dad's little chevy S10 Blazer (its the red car in the railroad tie pic) that threw a rod. He was so pissed he just stuck it next to the White '79 Datsun in the same pic and it has sat there since  It really is a rock now! :D That time I forgot I was pulling anything until I looked in the rear view mirror.
