Extended Warrantee?

I bought my '03 F150 in December 2002 so I'm closing in on 12 months of ownership. I am planning on keeping this truck a long time. I am interested in an extended warrantee. I have my mind made up I want a Ford warrantee. Do I need to get it before the truck is 12 months old to get a good deal? How much should I expect to pay? I want to get the most complete coverage possible, out to about 75,000 miles. Any advise or info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Radar

Question

I have never understood that about extended warranties could someone explain?

What difference does it make whether it is purchased on a new truck or a truck that is approaching the end of it's 36/36k basic warranty?

The 'EXTENDED' warranty does not pay anything while the truck is under the 'BASIC' so, why should it cost a penny more later than it does now? (other than normal inflation, if any)
