Angry Michelin LTX M/S

I have had the LTX M/S for 10k miles. I do like the highway and local driving on them. They do fairly well in the rain. I have not had a chance to try them in the snow, but THEY SUCK IN THE MUD.

I have been in two different situations where I was not attempting to off road, just moving along a logging trail to unload my ATV. On a flat surface, the tires caked up very quickly and I will do anything to avoid the mud.

I was just about to call Sam's club and trade them in for some A/T's. Unfortunatley, it's muzzloading season and that takes priority!

That's my 2 cents worth.

I just put on Les Schwab Wild Country XTX's on my F150. I only off road during hunting season. But its 4 weeks (if I ain't lucky) of big time off-roading. They handle really nice on the road, and I can't believe the traction I had in the mountains. Blew me away. See the next thread after this.

I've had two different trucks with the BFG A/T and was extremely happy with them. I think they have the best traction in snow and light off roading of any tire I've used or seen used in the same situations.

This time around, BFG Mud Terrain (285/70/17) but I just got them so I can't attest to the snow (road) driving or durability, but they were great off road in the mud and snow this past weekend!

I don't think you can go wrong with the BFG A/T - great everywhere.

Well, this past Thanksgiving weekend was the best test of the tires. And they passed with superior points. I was caught in a Lake Effect snow storm and I am pleased as peach to say that these tires handled very well on the highway. I didn't go into 4X4 mode at all. Since I don't do any off-roading, all I cared about was a safe way to journey across in Winter on roads and well, I seem to have a good solution now.

Michelin gets a smiley.

Combined with the new shocks, the truck handles so smooth now. This being my first truck, I associated body roll with the height until now. Now I know it was due to shocks being bad.

Thank you, people of the F150 world.

Sounds like you got what you needed! Glad to hear it! I still haven't heard a bad word about the LTX M/S tires from folks who knew what they wanted when they got them!

Thumbs up

just got my new tires and what timing... it was snowing here in Ontario to beat the band i went from my General Grabber 255 70 16's to Michelin LTX A/T LT245 75 16's WOW what a difference.

the tires don't plug up as bad and my stopping has improved greatly saving my ABS from having to come on as often as before.

acceleration is good too, but the most noticeable area is when lane changing and having to cross that 8 inch mound of salt laden slush the truck doesn't get slid off track.

i would highly recomend these 10ply's to all... my 2 wheel drive 5.4 screw is acting like a 4x4!

I know what you mean with the slush mounds between lanes. Ugh.

Glad we made the right decision. I'd hate to have bought a Wrangler!!!
