why my rotors were warped...

Well I bought new Aimco rotors from Autozone and went to replace my old ones this weekend. I measured the thickness of the old rotors...they were at 23.5mm with no wear since the last brake job. Turns out the ******** at the Ford Dealership ignored the minimum thickness tolerance of 24.5mm and turned them down anyway. The new ones measured 26mm.

I have never had a good experience at any dealer that has performed work on my vehicle: Chevy, Pontiac or Ford. Just proves my motto, "If you want it done right, do it yourself!"

Were they 23.5mm all the way around? If they are warped they could have thickness variation, some parts may still be in spec. Your probably right though, nobody really pays attention to the minmum thickness, most people just eye it up and decide if they are going to save the customer money and machine them, or make them buy new. No time to measure when your flat rate...
