AT or passenger?

I think the size tires I'm using are 255 70 R16's. They are Dunlop AT's which I am unsure of. They only have about 500 miles on them, but I may be replacing them to fix a shimmy problem. I don't have anything to tow yet and don't know if I ever will and the truck isn't a 4wd so would a regular tires for a car provide a better ride?

Or could anyone vouch for Dunlop Radial Rovers as being a good tires. If so I'd have to look for the vibration elsewhere.

Thanks,
S_Gibson

S_Gibson,
I had Dunlop Radial Rovers on an 89 S-10...(I know, bad Chevy).
The tires were great for the first 30,000 miles. After half of the tread was gone though, ice and snow traction suffered fairly significantly. They were pretty good in mud, fine on dirt and gravel. Slightly noisy on highway.

I'm considering getting Dunlop ATs for my 98 F150 4x2...everything I've heard about them is positive. Good treadwear, traction in weather, and quiet. If you have a shimmy prob, consider taking them back to re-balance or get replaced.

As far as ride is concerned, what load rating are the tires? If its a LT tire with a load rating of C, D, or E, your ride will probably be stiffer. A P rated tired should offer a better ride for an F150. An LT tire though can corner slightly better.

I've seen both ATs and RRs on tirerack pretty cheap.
Good Luck.
