Tire sizes

I have the factory 235/70/16 now and I am thinking of going with a 17 or 18 inch wheel when I get new tires. What do you guys think about an equivelent height tire. I was thinking of a 245/60/17 or a 245/55/18 about right or not. I am pretty serious about keeping my stock height. With 3.08 dif. I need all the power I have. Can't stand to lose any when I pull my boat. I have thought of putting exhaust on my truck but I have heard of so many people actually losing power with there new custom exhaust. I have also thought about a chip but with all the problems they cause (dash guages reading funky, intermintent stall and such) so I have decided against that. Oh well my 4.6 gets me where I want to go. Thanks

Stroll by the tire mfr web sites. They show sizes and diameters and revolutions per mile -- and you can do apples to apples comparisons.

Silver&Blue, Why not keep the same wheel size and go to all terrain 265/75/16. That will give you 32" tires and you shouldn't notice a huge loss of power.

I would really like to get a set of 20's but I don't have the $$. I don't think I am going to keep the stock wheels because I want my truck to look different. I have never had a normal vehicle until now. I want that to change.

careful with the sizes. There is NOOOOOO way a 265/75 will replace a 235/70 with no effects. It will rob you of like .20 or .30 in your final drive ratio. SO that;'s like changing from 1:3.08 to 1:2.80.

If you need more towing power, by new gears. They will cost you a fraction of what it would cost for 18" rims and tires. Then with the money saved buy any size tire you want for a stock 16' rim.
